What is the problem? If it is running fine redo the test things can show up funny sometimes in any kind of test, That's why good researchers test, test then retest!!
What is the condition of the egr probably just need to spray it down, or the tube is clogged with build up!!! Put your truck info in your signature so we know what you have and don't have to guess!! I think you have a 94 302, auto with 31x10.50 4:10 gears with a trailer hitch Am I right???

That's close. I have a 96 351 auto but I have no idea on the gear ratio and it does have a trailer hitch.

Tee hee...don't know if the problem is fixed, but it sure was sweet to delete the code and clear that *&@#$%& check engine light. Worth the expense buying the reader. I have probably broke even already from what the "pro" at some shop would charge. Will let you know if the light re-appears.
I had the same problem with a '95 Crown Victoria. Light would re appear after I cleared it. I took the throttle body apart and found the passage to the EGR valve was completely clogged with carbon. I cleaned it out and no more check engine light.

Here is mor eon my situation...cleared it once and within a few miles of city driving it reappeared. However, cleared it again and rove 800 miles doing between 65-85 mph and never showed up. When doing city driving it reappears quickly. Guess I will have to take it off and clean it out.
Pull vac on egr when running - engine should stumble severly or just cut off-IF it doesn't do this the egr passages are stopped up(carbon)If it DOES stall or stumble Replace DPFE sensor(only on 96 bronco-obdII)Delta pressure feedback sensor.Check two hoses for debris, clean and or replace. Clear codes.. At my dealership when it comes in for this code, p0401 in memory(KOEO) you than do a running test (KOER) and if it generates a p1408 its automatic that the DPFE is bad!!

When I do the KOER test, I do not get any error codes. Everthing passes. I will pull the vacuum and let you know what happens.

OK, I pulled the vacuum hose off the EGR and nothing happened. Wasn't a bit a difference with the vacuum plugged in or unplugged. Is there way to clean the EGR passages without pulling the EGR off?
You must pull vac on that hose when you unplug it from the EGR to see if it stalls or runs (idles) very badly.Just unplugging it doesn't test anything!!!

OK, I pulled a vacuum test on the EGR and the engine about died the moment I put a vacuum ion it. The engine still ran but it was choking. I am off to the dealership to get a DPFE replacement. Thank you. I will let you know thew final result.
