code question

I have 03 escape and the computer says it has the code p0136 ho2s 12 sens.lean. any ideas which o2 sensor is bad. i have found three of them.

I don't believe that code indicates a "bad" o2 sensor. More than likely its indicating a leaky intake condition.

That's Bank #1 Sensor #2 or the second one on the front bank but it's not always the sensor.

if it is not the sensor any ideas? is there any way to check the sensor with a multi meter or anything else? thanks

"forgive" my first post as it was a "first guess" and only partially correct. The part about the "usually not a o2 issue" is correct (imo) BUT based on the clarification being the "secondary sensor", it is likely it is pointing at a leak in the "outtake" / exhaust area in front of "said sensor".

Not in this case. A special DMM like a OTC DAT has a O2 test function.

You could see if you can force it to go rich by opening a propane torch in front of the intake. You should get a rich DTC on both banks then.
