Block plate
Not sure if this is the correct term for the thin metal piece with the starter cut-out that goes between the engine and the flex-plate/bell-housing ..
Anyhow, the one on my '79 460 got bent at the junkyard when they laid the engine in the crate.
I was wondering if the same identical piece is on my 351M with C-6? It's still in the truck so I can't tell for sure.
I might be able to straighten this 460 one out .. are they easily obtainable and relatively cheap if it doesn't straighten well?
What's the purpose of this thing anyway?

mainly to keep dirt and gunk form getting into the torque converter and transmission. it is also a shim for spacing, so you can't leave it off as you will have no where to bolt up the starter.
not sure if they are the same or not, but they should be seeing as both share the same bell housing pattern and transmission. the only thing that might be different is the flywheels size that might change the location of the starter hole in the plate, but i don't think this is correct seeing that the bolt holes are in the tranny case and that doesn't change.
if i was a betting man, i would say they are the same.
