well, im on a roll today with new posts, but finally got a few hours of downtime to get every PSD question out. in a year and a half when im done with nursing school and making oodles of money and still living home, I'm planning on buying a new PSD and turning my 97 into the most rediculously powerfull PSD on the planet. Money isnt much of an object for this one. below is the list of parts i plan on throwing at this thing, starting with a fresh block and working from the oilpan up. what ive included (engine wise) is only power parts, i know ill need other incidentals like a waterpump and oil pump and such. what do you guys think? any idea where this will put me for horsepower? theres also the debate, as addressed in a post about a half hour ago, of b-code injectors instead of the 530 hybrids. thanks for the input.

Save yourself some $ and do the CCV mod yourself. all you need is some good 3/4" hose and run it to the back of the truck. Also with the stealth pumps you wont need an hpx crossover. If you want all out hp, the lipd turbo setup is a little small. I think bean is planning on making a twin setup this winter, I plan on running it when he gets it done. 6oh intercooler is good for a low boost truck (under 40psi) but it tends to fail at higher boost pressures due to blowing the end tanks off. DI intercooler, spearcopy or hypermax tapercore are considered the best. Alot of the hypermax stuff is over priced (its good quality though), you can find most of what you need in believe it or not a stock rebuild kit. Mahle lower compression pistons and clevite bearings are in my truck, both came with the rebuild kit. Also valve springs, pushrods and all the other head parts are much cheaper to find else where. I havent heard anything good about hypermax's camshaft either. You should also add a wide open performance main girdle/ stud kit to your list, its about 1200 bucks if memory serves me right. My suggestion is to drop the block off at beans with a check and tell him what hp you want. He will make sure all the right parts are used.
Plan on spending 10-15k on the longblock and another 10-12k on injectors, turbo(s), hpops, intercooler and last but not least you'll need some custom tuning $$$$.

Well Luke said all my suggestions. Better hope your parents don't start charging rent when they see all the money your putting into your truck! Also I doubt a Gear vendors will hold up to the HP your puttin out and with your hand shaker don't expect to win many 1/4 miles. I would do an auto swap with a BTS. Also I would look into a cyro treatment for any of your engine parts that aren't already cyro'ed.
Balanced bottom end, a fluidamper harmonic balancer, forget the Zex nos system, they're junk. Buy a TS performance powerfool No2 system, they're much better. Get lived tuned by Jody, Porting and polishing the heads also is a big plus, luke diagree's on this but it works. Like Tim said, get cyro'd parts and ceramic coating pistons, valves, combustion chamber, etc., is also a big plus! Ditto on the 6.blow cooler, screw that idea and get ya a Spearco cooler. They're the biggest retro fit cooler available. Get a banks CAC tube kit, GTS is a little shady. Get EDM finished injector nozzles through DDP for a little less resistance and more fuel flow! Have fun, take lots of pictures
thanks for all of the replies, guys. alot of valuable info that with out it i would have spent alot of money on useless and/or bad parts. like i said, this is another year and a half off, but im just trying to get all of my ducks in a row here (which, hey, would be a catchy phrase for something for rubberduck and his lil diesel gang). i was contemplating keeping my 97 as it and putting this monster motor into possibly a 2wd, single cab truck with a built auto for drag racing and general tomfoolery. tj- not too worried about the rent, plan on putting on a nice addition w/ garage on the parents house. so i get a garage and bigger room, mom gets a bigger kitchen. at that, mom will never let dad throw me out or charge me rent! lol, thought this all through. thanks again.
Sheeesh! And I feel guilty just considering some simple mods like Stage I's!
I don't want to rain on your parade FFemt, but honestly, I hope you are putting some of your money away for down the road. You apparently are a young man with a long life ahead of you. Take some of that money and invest it in something that will pay you back later. Now is an excellent time to plunk a chunk into mutual funds. Let it sit, contribute from time to time and watch it grow!
Dollar for dollar, you'll never see any kind of return on your investment in truck mods. I know, it is fun and exciting to have the best/fastest/coolest for a while. Been there and done that. And boy, if I had it to do over, I'd have put the money I spent on my old '82 gasser engine mods in the bank. It was very cool for a couple of years, but when I sold the truck, I never got an extra penny for the built 302 and suspension I put in that thing. I don't have any trophies on the wall for anyof the few street races I had and smoked the opponent. I don't have buddies that talk about the glory days of lighting up both rear wheels and laying a cloud of rubber smoke across the intersection.
I'm not preaching. I am just an "old" man approaching retirement who wishes he had salted a few more $ away when I had that most precious commodity of all still available to me: that of time.
See, now I dug myself into this hole and sound like the old man that I am. There is probably no way I am going to make you believe that I don't "disapprove" of your decision to pour $ into your truck project. I envy the fact that you have the $ to even contemplate these mods and that you have the youthful attitude that it is only money and you can go and make more anytime you want and you can "afford" it because you have lower than usual living expenses.
Please believe me; I really don't disapprove, I am just expressing my opinion that young folk (myself included when I was your age!) tend to squander the one resource that is absolutely irreplaceable: time.
I am drawing a big "D" for "downer" on my forehead right now. What a way to start the New Year, by being a downer! So much for New Year's resolutions!

X2 open the bts...I am saving up for one right now, all it takes is money lol
