I am sorry if this question has been ask before but here goes. I have a 2000 F250 with a 7.3 powerstroke diesel and I am confused abou which coolant I should be using. Right now I have the green stuff but I have been on other sites and they talk about red coolant and charged coolant and I am very confused. I have the additive to mix with the coolant but which coolant do I get? Please help.
Thanks

You can use either one.. If you use the green, be sure to add the SCA (supplement coolant additive) for it meet Ford's spec's..ESN-M99B169-A If you buy it at Ford, it is now called " diesel cooling system additive".
The red has the supplement in it already...
You have three choices, really. Stay green and keep using the additive every 30k, switch to Gold (like my '02 has) and test it every now & then, or go with the "Red Kool-Aid", aka Rotella ELC, also aka "Global Lifetime" at Wally-World. I believe it's ~$10/gal pre-mixed, so you'd need 8 jugs, plus a good supply of distilled water to flush out the old stuff. If it were me, I'd get the 203* stat, billet housing, and cooling filter as well. At that point, you shouldn't have to mess with your cooling system again, unless the water pump decides to go. But if it does, and you have the filter in, the next one should last a very long time.
Only thing is that I wouldn't use flush -- just drain & rinse with Distilled water until it's mostly clear then completely drain and add your coolant of choice. Also, it's easier to flush & drain with the stat removed -- you don't have to wait for it to heat up & cool down. Then when you're ready to fill it the final time with your coolant, reinstall the stat (or install your 203* stat & new housing). Happy Reading!
Switch to the koolaid coolant and be with us cool cats, and while your doing that get the 203*thermo and billet t-stat. You'll never have to check the SCA again. Im so happy for that.

Actually, I prefer to use the green coolant, use the SCA (I use Pencool 3000), and check the coolant every three months or so. Every couple of years, I send a sample off to Polaris Labs to find out what's going on, and maybe add a pint of Wynn's Radiator Treatment, depending on the lab findings.
I feel like I'm better keeping my finger on the pulse.

I screwed this up -- the red stuff is "Final Charge" with the pic of the big-rig on it. I realized that yesterday (as I stated in the new thread I just started). Hope I didn't screw this up for someone...

Most autopart stores have them. Although, I just went to my normal parts house and they said they don't mess with that stuff. Anyhow, if you have no luck there try a big rig shop or even a farm implement dealer will have them too.
