I always figured there was something fishy about the Pats but could never put my finger on exactly what, so I never liked the team. Now that I hear that they were caught cheating I lost what little respect I ever had for the team and I hope they get every possible punishment. Losing some draft picks isn't enough in my book.
the Patriots season is out the window now. they're going to pay big time for this cheating crap. The sports world sure is showing it's dark side these days.
"Nobody told me there'd be days like these Nobody told me there'd be days like these Strange days indeed,"
The key is they got caught. It seems to be that every team does it to a extent. The Patriots just went over the top with the video crap.
As far as giving the Jets the win, DID YOU WATCH THE GAME? The Patriots just killed them. The stealing of a sign does not cause the Jets to miss tackles and blow coverages. It doesn't give Pennington more shoulder strength to actually throw the ball downfield.
As fas as something fishy.......how the heck do you get to that conclusion? Because they win?
I hate that they did it. The actual benefit seems to be too small for the risk. They are too good a team to need that crap. How many plays could it affect? All the local shows seem to think its one or two plays maybe. What they were looking at was hand signals.....heck you can do that from the stands with binoculars. Coach Parcells on ESPN stated that and that they all do it.
Another point was that there is only 1-2 coaches in the league could actually capitalize on knowing the defence.
They got caught and have to pay up.
Plus....not a good time to pizz off the commish right now.

It's probably true that every team does it to some extent, but like you said this was just way over the top. There are some shady areas in the all rules then can be played with and are played with by the teams but not to such an extent as this (at least that a team has been caught for).
Ever notice the staff on the sidelines with those parabolic salad bowls and headphones?
Now that you mention it I always wondered what those guys were doing there. But you would think that something that was obvious enough to be caught on TV like that would get caught by the league. Maybe there's another reason for them?

There is.
The losing team has to eat nothing but salad out of those parabolic bowls, with no salad dressing; just lettuce, carrots, and celery, until the next game.
I think the franchise should be forced to change its name. "Patriots" seems so inappropriate now.
It should also be noted that by videotaping the signals they were likely NOT deciphering them for that game, but rather building a database for future games (they play the Jets at least once more, and perhaps in the playoffs...well, maybe not this year... )

I knew there had to be another reason for those things, thanks for clearing that up .
