Here's (in part) what the rule states:

"....no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game...."

Additionally, they also say all video for coaching purposes must be shot from locations "...enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead...."

Now, first off, I do not condone cheating, but Belichick and his opponents are idiots.

The rule, as written, has a terrible loop hole, and is easily circumvented with a good ol' fashioned set of binoculars and note pad.....gimmeabreak.

Although there was no rule against it in baseball, the stealing of your opponents 'signs' was a common practice. IMO, if you were not a sophisticated enough Manager to guard against this (which is easily done), you were an idiot, and did not deserve to win.

Boy....I am sure glad they needed to tape coaches. They looked terrible last night with no tape to view!

Maybe they thought that this behavior was ok'd by the Patriot Act?

Here is the latest I heard Sunday on Fox news: They were also being investigated not only for the video recording but for simultaneous unauthorized audio recording attached to their own players on the field. They used unauthorized radio frequencies for transmitting this audio during the same game.

and for whistle blowing mangini from the jets, has been accused of something illegal as well.
