My 97 7.3 glowplugs are not working. Last year i installed new glowplugs and a new napa relay, worked great for 3 months then the napa relay just fell apart, found it just shattered. installed a motorcraft relay, worked great for 6 months now, now it is intermittently energizing. i don't think its the relay, I think its the solenoid activatation power. i think the computer or whatever comands the solenoid is not working. What should I check??? I jump the relay with a bolt and truck fires up fine. wait to start light goes on and off about the same lenth of time as normal. I have a bully dog adjustable chip and I rotated it to stock and makes not diffrence. Help please! I don't want to take this to a dealer
Thanks for the relay part number.....I was not at all immpressed with the napa one. Unfortunatley it is not the relay now as there is no power on the small control wires to the relay sometimes...
The relay is not the problem, the low amp activation power is. If I power the relay it clicks and engages. is there a glowplug driver module maybe? What tells the plugs when to light and for how long?

The PCM controls the ground for activation. There is constant power on the other side. I have seen a good running truck need a PCM because the driver went out for the GP relay. If thats the case I would just put a push buttom momentary switch to control GP's
