Need some advice. Edelbrock or Dove heads? Dove's look better but are they worth the extra grand??? Anyone use either of these heads? I'm leaning towards the E'boks just because of the financial aspect, but if someone can convince me that the Dove's are that much better, I might try them. Thanks.
If you are looking for a good performance head for the street/strip the ebrocks are the way to go. Sure the doves will probably flow better and be of slightly better quality but just getting your hands on a set can be tough. They have a reputation for rediculous waiting times on their parts. I like my edel heads more than I thought I would. If you are concerned with their valvetrain quality or want them to flow better than stock go to www.flatlanderracing.com. You can get them ported and built pretty much how you want.
Are the Dove heads really a grand more than the Eds? I can't imagine them being worth that much more. Seems you could get some seriously upgraded iron for that money. Heck, get the bare EDs and upgrade the valve train.
Actually I have heard that it costs about 3,000 minimum for the dove heads. It was quite a while ago when I was inquiring about them though. Maybe they have gotten cheaper?
When edelbrock was releasing their heads Dove made high flow low lift heads that peaked flow at .400 lift and were supposed to make more power and were supposed to be priced at $1400, I'll have to try to dig out the info again sometime but this may have been a bare price
