Intercooler

How much room do I need for an intercooler (see my specs in sig)
also will a 6.0 intercooler fit????

I normally use the truck when towing and I want MOOOOOOORE power....

I also seem to have a low boost pressure problem....any ideas??? please help...

There does not seem to be a mechanic (that I know of) that can help...I know several mechanics that are good with gassers.....

yes the 6.0 cooler will fit.

what kind of boost are you putting out? Without a chip you will be lucky to hit 20. things to check- leaking y-pipe connection, leaking up pipe donut gaskets, leaking exhuast manifolds, dirty air filter, junk turbo, not enough fuel

Max boost I have seen is 14-15 psi and that is in 4th holding it on the floor & winding it up...
Y-pipe connections look great, no apparent exhaust leaks(maybe I should soap it?), air filter is new...so that leaves me with junk turbo or fuel problem...BTW - 17*HPOP is in transit...

yeah 14-15 isn't too bad for a truck with just the 10k mod and a 5sp. the manual trannies loose more boost during shifts than the auto's do. It could be a bit higher but each truck is different.

Yeah, 14-15 doesn't sound bad. My '97 that's stock except for a low power Banks chip will hit 18. One thing I was surprised to see was after programming my '96 back to stock it would barely hit 12 psi, I guess the IC and stock tunes won't hit much boost. When I programed it back it would hit 25 again.

I have a 6.0 cooler sitting in the garage waiting to go into the '97.

I am working on putting in my Banks IC right now. there isn't much room, its mighty tight in there! i was lucky though i trimmed just the right amount off the core support so that made it much easier!

Where can I find the spyder and tubing etc. to add an intercooler to a non-intercooled truck?

I was about to order the Banks tubing kit from Boyer when I found a brand new GTS Motorsports pipe kit and 6.0 IC for sale for a good price, so I bought it. You're choices are Banks kit, GTS kit, or find an early '99 spyder and make your own tubes. No more new early '99 spyders so you have to get lucky and find one for sale.

I can get 20 psi and push it hard in 2nd or 3rd to get 25 stock. That is before the chip even.

i was not impressed with GTS... prolly a great guy but it took me 3 weeks to get some basic answers from him. i figured if it took him that long to answer some questions no telling how long it would take him get my order to me. i too was going to do the DIY route but decided to splurge since i just bought a new turbo, rather not mess it up!
