They Look Awesome On Just About Any Vehicle. They Aren't The Best All Around Tire, But Work Fine In Mud.

They look cool though! I think they do anyway.
Never did well on iced up roads. Have to spin the snot out of them in the mud. They do not clean themselves very well. Square shoulders are not so good in the sand, and should be grooved for rocks. But hey they look cool right?????
Actually they are not that bad.
I have a set of SSR's with just over 30K on them. Not bad for a tripple stage lug aggressive tire with street use.

if you wanted a tire to look good....obviously the bogger would be your choice so that rules that theory out....

they aint worth a damn in the mud, if you can spin them or not....

well, thornbirds do have a bad rep for obvious reasons, but they would have discontinued the line and taken them out of circulation if people weren't buyin' em'.

They suck the big one in my opinion. I had a set of 33x12.50x15 Thornbirds on my 96 ranger and they were awful. I only got 26,000 miles out of them with regular rotating balancing and constant air pressure attention. They rode like bulldozer tracks. One example, I bought a coke in town and took one sip then put the cap back on. After 20 miles the coke was so flat I couldnt drink it. By comparison the 33x15.50 Swamper SXs rode better and got 24,000 miles with the same attention. In the mud you had to have plenty of gas pedal to keep them clean but too much and you would be sitting on the frame. The outer lugs dont grab and pull you out of ruts like you think they would. I will agree there are few tires that stand out more than a set of thornbirds though. Especially when you spray some tire shine stuff on.

Don't ever put any kind of tire shine on any Swamper other than Aero Space 303. It will pull the UV protection out of the tire and then it will dry rot in no time.

well they are on the truck and have been abused already so i will give my review.
price=decent
looks= good
ROAD MANNERS=being they are really just an all-terrain and i operate a d-9 hightrack dozer at a coal terminal every day i really can say i'd rather ride in the dozer.
OFF ROAD- i have a 450 horse cummins sitting under the hood of my pickup that just loves to spin tires i can say these tires are pitiful in clay mud unless i use the go pedal.
on the other hand in the rutted out trails that i wheel in they grab great traction those side lugs work just how their supposed to. in dry dirt they are just like any other tire i've had on the truck(ground hawgs, mickey all-terrains, good year mt's). i don't rock crawl nor have i had a chance to drive the truck in the snow or sand. for the price i would have went back with the ground hawgs they truly are the best tire i've had on this truck, but for my every day uses this tire should do fine and they do look awesome. i'll let you all know how they do at the dragstrip this saturday so i can pretty much cover all areas of this review. will post pics soon.

A quote of myself about this from another thread

"The best tires in the super swamper line up!
Those thornbirds have huge gaps between the lugs for great cleaning w/ low wheel speed....
And those giant outside lugs can pull you through anything."

These tires are useless.
