thornbird ... i bet interco said these tires are for the birds.. and they puncture easy.. lets call them "thornbirds"
ya i dont think they will be selling them much longer.. when they came out a few people like me bought them to get into the interco tires.. and realized they suck.. so i dont see anyone buying more then 1 set.
Like everyone said the only good thing about these tires are the looks and maybe the price....
Ok, one guy said they are good, but that doesn't count cause when he gets stuck with the shi*ty tires, he just forgets about the truck.
Yes, the tires MIGHT get you through a mud hole, but you will have to beat on your truck to do it, where a bogger(even tsl, ltb, or Irok) would get you through the same hole with less effort, wheel speed, or abuse.
ROAD MANNERS=being they are really just an all-terrain and i operate a d-9 hightrack dozer at a coal terminal every day i really can say i'd rather ride in the dozer.
i own 39'' iroks. and im glad were all mature enough to go to someones house and beat their *** over their OPINION, clearly read i said that. to each his own. Now like i said mine as siphed which makes a world of difference on the road. this is not my daily its a toy so i dont pay to much attention, my thornbirds are just another tire, and they do look mean as hell compared to my iroks. and yes i do have 20''s because if you knew anything about towing, you would know a smaller side wall is better
and just wondering if you had any weight on that *** end of that truck in the video?
stgford - ill be that one guy that doesnt go with the flow and say what they 27 guys before me said because i just drove on them over the weekend, i know what i experienced, i got in that lifted ford on 44s and it road the same.. i would rate the ride around a 7 out of 10 compared to the two other sets of tires i had on it, and for mud and stuff i guess this missouri mud must not be the good **** because i get right thru it and i drove on them in the snow storms all last winter to lay down salt, so maybe you should come take a ride, im a nice guy. i like to prove my point. alot of things can make them ride like a dozer, such as suspension, which oh yeah mine has air ride.. i forgot to mention that and blisten shocks my truck also has probably about an extra 800Lbs from the weight of the rhino liner over the entire truck including the frame and bed which may and may not help me get thru mud and snow better

being that this has become such a heated thread about rubber i will post again to keep it going because it is really interesting to me that grown men can argue like this
hahaha
i did however take the truck to a local pull over the weekend and let me tell you these things rock for truck pulling on clay. grab just enough traction to keep the turbo lit and spin like hell just what you need to drag a sled. seems they all have there use.
my comment on the dozer like ride is probrably due to my ancient leaf spring suspension but it wouldn't be a truck to me if it didn't rattle, squeek, and continiously brake random drivetrain parts(got torque?) i'll keep updating this review and eventually post pictures (maybe with hot women?) so that finally there will be a full review on these things from a man that actually has 4 of them.
NOW IM GOING TO GO DRINK BEER and eat food be back later
enough said, i just dont want my door kicked and my family to be taken hostage all because i decided to save money on my xl sized rubbers and i like them. I will post video of all mine when i figure out how, ill video the same run with 38.5/14.50/15 thornbirds and on the 39/13.50/15 irok radial. im leaving it at that.
On second thought I apologize. I know a lot of guys who put 20" rims, air ride, 800lbs of rhino lining and oh yeah the mud connoisseur them self Thornbird tires on trucks they leave burried in the field. Like I said before buy a set of GOOD mud tires and maybe you wouldnt leave your truck stuck in the mud. IROKs are good but even regular TSLs or LTBs beat those in mud. Especially on heavy trucks.
This will be my last post on this topic. Some things are better left unsaid.
I garrantee you my Iroks pull better than thornbirds....
I also know LTBs pull better than iroks and boggers pull better than them all.
Like previously mentioned to each his own, and the tire might suit someone, but not me(the guy was looking for opinions/experiace with these tires). That's what he got. Some people like them some don't.
About the 20s.... I understand what your saying about the side wall. Yes a smaller side wall is good for towing, b/c there will be less roll or lean when cornering(='s better stabilaty), but if you knew anything then you'd know the 20" wheels aren't as strong as a set of 17s, so it actually decreases your tow rating(only to what the wheels can handle, not the truck), same thing for the 18s(decreased tow rating, only about 500 lbs for the 18, but still a decrease). And price for tires for 20s is just plain stupid..... Again, and opinion.
my thing is i dont know what is better the IROK or the BOGGER!! i have been trying to decide what one to get next but am not sure...
Ray
What size are you looking for.
I REALLY like the boggers, but for me the Iroks came in a better size(that I wanted anyway), and they were A LOT cheaper. IF LTBs would of came in the size I wanted, I might of very well got them. They are cheap, and pull at least just as good as my Iroks(and I'm talking about the 34x10.50s).
