Ok Ive been reading some threads about "turn key" engines, and I have no clue what the heck that means. Also is there any other engine terms similar to that i should know too so im not having a blank space in my brain. Thanks
That's everything from carb to oil pan, includes more than a long block. Majority of the time, they've been "run in" so there's no break in worries, and if it's a hipo motor, you should get a dyno sheet also. Get in and "turn the key" and go.
While we are on the subject, wouldn't be nice if the engines had 1/4 turn fastners on attachment points and quick dissconnect fuel lines and coolant hoses. The electrical stuff is pretty much that way already. In my years working on vehicles I often thought about this. Now with high labor costs it makes even more sense. kotzy
While on the subject wouldn't it be nice if all of the attachment points were 1/4 turn fastners. Coolant and fuel lines quick couplings. The electrical stuff is pretty much that way, but even that could be improved. When I worked at doing these tasks I often thought about this, and now with the labor costs going thru the roof it makes even more sense. Kotzy
most of the new vehicles already have the quick connect type connections for fuel and lubrication lines. they are really push in type connections for the assembly line guys. they do require a special tool to take them apart though.
1/4 turn fastners would probably work on non-critical type fastners, but i would never trust them on major attachment points such as motor mounts, tranny bolts, etc. 1/4 turn fastners are not ment for high stress areas and don't have the clamong force required to securely fasten stuff. also they have a tendency to vibrate loose which could be pretty disasterous.

I apologize for the double posting the website didn't seem to pick up the first so I tried again, same thing, to my surprise when I come back a couple of hours later they are both posted. I don't really understand these things we use to read and communicate with so be it. kotzy
