Blaine, feel free to...
on a side note 10% of my mutual is ConocoPhillips shares so that's sort of an upside, like its profits are paying for the gas in my tank...Just the effects of bid'ness, like with most products. Still glad i don't need to drive much anymore with these 11mpg motors.

khadma, our pineapple prices went up! What's with Dole anyway??
And dont forget hurricane Felix that is in South America today. That will be a reason for them to raise the price atleast $.30 by the end of the day. They'll take any reason to raise prices.
You called it. Unleaded went from $2.91 yesterday morning to $3.24 here by the afternoon.
Actually a couple of years ago one of the 2 producers shut down - Del Monte stopped producing with very little notice - about 300 people lost their jobs.
Dole may stop production soon. Supply and demand drives the price up. Also super high shipping cost due to the stupid fuel costs does not help, It helps when you have connections here.
I bet using pineapple to produce ethanol would be a good idea.
I guess China may produce really cheap lead based pineapples soon..
"accident" as in cheap substitution. Correction, it was melamine in China wheat gluten that killed animals here "...the addition of melamine as a fake protein is widespread. According to a Times report..." in the Epidemiology Monitor. http://www.epimonitor.net/EpiMonday/...s/05-07-07.htm
the glycerine was in their cough syrup that killed people. Been listed as high-risk since the 1930's.
and China thought all their mislabellings and substitutions was enough of "accidents" and executed the head of their FDA for taking bribes. And is cleaning house in their factories http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19686498/
