on a side note 10% of my mutual is ConocoPhillips shares so that's sort of an upside, like its profits are paying for the gas in my tank...Just the effects of bid'ness, like with most products. Still glad i don't need to drive much anymore with these 11mpg motors.

Actually a couple of years ago one of the 2 producers shut down - Del Monte stopped producing with very little notice - about 300 people lost their jobs.
Dole may stop production soon. Supply and demand drives the price up. Also super high shipping cost due to the stupid fuel costs does not help, It helps when you have connections here.
I bet using pineapple to produce ethanol would be a good idea.
I guess China may produce really cheap lead based pineapples soon.

"accident" as in cheap substitution. Correction, it was melamine in China wheat gluten that killed animals here "...the addition of melamine as a fake protein is widespread. According to a Times report..." in the Epidemiology Monitor.

the glycerine was in their cough syrup that killed people. Been listed as high-risk since the 1930's.

Who needs a army to attack the usa when you got china attacking us from the inside out with tainted foods.. after all we are mass consumers... they know we will buy it. while they are safe in china eating cats and dogs..
