i have an '04 250, i did the egr cooler delete and i have unplugged the valve. there is no smoke coming out of the tailpipe but still have flash boiling of the coolant. could this be from the radiator being plugged or the oil cooler?

sic250 - welcome to FTE.

Assuming you do not have any EGR cooler issues (ie it was properly deleted):

Delete Complete

O.K. All. I finally got the EGR delete job done and all the dealership errors corrected. The truck runs better than it has in a long time. It tachs at 200 rpm less now at 70 mph (cruise) and has a little more pep on the on ramp at at stop signs. There are no codes or CE light issues. Overall, I am very pleased with the entire set up. If anybody wants my old cooler and up pipe, email me an I will send it to you. It may save someone some $$'s if you do not want to go the delete route. I'll even throw in the new blue coolant line.

He found it on eBay and bought one...saying that he was tired of replacing this thing and that he needed his truck to stay in business.

I went by this weekend and watched as he removed and replaced the unit. You can find the pics to the whole thing here:

Picasa Web Albums - Gene-iuos! - Cooler Instal...

He inspected the item from eBay before installing it. He said that Ford wanted like $450 plus $115 for gaskets for a new EGR cooler, and this one was actually going to save him $100 and it was a lot stronger. He also liked that the new one has the exact same fit and function as the original cooler, so installation was easy.

I will update the forum as his mileage goes and any history or emissions problems.

thanks a ton for the pics man!!! very helpful!!!!

I have seen a lot of posts here that state that the Liberator EGR Delete kit price to be $599. However, I just ordered one from the Liberator web site and the price is $369. I have both an 05 and 06 F250s with the 6.0L diesel, with 225,000 miles on the 05 and over 300,000 on the 06. I have had to replace the EGR system 3 times on the 06 and once on the 05. I am installing the EGR delete on the 06 and will do the 05 also if it really works.

EGR bypass / eliminator kit

Thanks. I found an EGR bypass kit that has solved 90% of my problem. the issue now is turning the "check Engine" lite off permanetly. I have a Super Chip tuner that allows me to "clear" the error messages and temporaily clers the lite, but after running the engine for about an hour or more and doing a re-start, the lite comes back on. Any ideas?

ya might try just leaving the egr valve in it plugged in so the ecm wont find the egr system fault

Frustrated by EGR error after installing by-pass

The valve is still plugged in. I think the issue is that the system does not "sense" the flow of exhaust gasses thru or pass the sensor and thus the fault reading. Any ideas on how I can turn the EGR sensor "off" ?

I C that very well could be too, something maybe goin on with the Maniflod air pressure or intake air temperture sensors. i installed a sinister kit on mine and it said the 03 and 04's wouldnt throw codes but the 05 and up would if the egr valve wasnt left in it or a tuner put in.

that or a different tuner is needed to completely turn the egr system off cause it sounds to me like your just deleting the error code that comes up. then once the truck is restarted it throws that code again. is this whats happening?
