I'm running the Rancho. It works great, but the paint and finish gets destroyed so freaking quick. When it dies I'll probably go with something else that will look good as well as function.
I'm running a Fabtech OE replacement, and like the previous poster, the shock looked like crap after a few months. Click the thumbnails for a better look.
I hit it with some Rustoleum black spray paint, and all is well.
Part number for the OE replacement is FTS7001 (99-04) and FTS7006 (05-06), you might want to double check these part numbers though.
To be completely honest with you, after smashing the stock stabilizer and driving with it removed, I couldn't tell one lick of difference with the new one on (even driving off-road was the same). Maybe my truck really doesn't need a stabilizer, but it's got one anyways!
I bought mine off of truckperformance.com for something like $45, but you can find the stabilizers almost anywhere.
Wow, I never realized how far down in harms way that thing hangs!
Don't some of the aftermarket setups get it up some? I noticed on an 07 I worked on it was up on the drag link, way out of danger.
They are tucked up rather high so I don't foresee damaging the unit as an issue.
I've got a Rancho damper on there now but am getting some vibration at times. The Ranchos that I had on the truck prior to replacement with Bilsteins were poor performers. That's the reason for inquiring about replacement options.
I've got dual dampers, and running 38inch Gound Hawgs.
With the duals the factory power steering is not strong enough to turn the wheels at a stop.
Also my dampers are aluminimum and get pited from the hyway debris, road dirt. So I just have them repolished!
A bit off topic, but I just added a procomp dual stabilizer yesterday and left the stock one on--so, now I have three stabilizers and the 250 feels like a sports car!
I'm running the procomp factory replacement. i changed to 13.5 wide tires and the stock one just didn't work. this one seems to be doing just fine and with a notable difference. ordered it from 4wheelparts. i want to say around $ 60.00. took 5 minutes to unbolt stock and bolt this on.
I just added a rancho stock replacement to help control my 37x13.50s and noticed a huge difference over the stock one. Of course the stock stabilizer was blown so who knows how long I was rolling without anything.
While I was crawling around underneath my truck today trying to get some info about my axles, I notice something missing.
It appears that my damper is AWOL. Then I notice that the monkey that owned my truck before me either hit something hard or just removed it and bent up the mount on the passenger side.
Since the inner (center?) mount was fine, I'm thinking he just took it off and proceeded to hammer the mount up out of the way. Between this and all of the other wonderful "modification" that he has done is why I have knicknamed him "the monkey".
I guess I'll "hammer" it back into place and get a Rancho replacement.

I got lost at first then realized you have an 05. I was talking about the picture above where it is right down in front. You may want to limit your judgement from the responses to 05 and newer trucks since it is mounted differently and may perform differently.

Mine is like that too, but my truck never had one. I've seen several others that don't have a stabilizer, but all have that little mount on the spring bracket, that were bent. I think it just happens from hitting something. It seems very easy to hit it hanging down low like that.
