New to me 2001 F350 4x4 7.3L Crew Cab. Replacing a few parts one being the steering dampers one is leaking. Question I have... The truck has two dampers when I look up online every thing list "Quantity Per Vehicle: 1" Was the second one added or did some ship with two? Do I just order quantity 2? Or do I need to remove and measure? -thanks john
All super duty if ordered with the steering stabilizer have ONE ONLY, someine added a dual kit to your truck. See if the shocks have the manufacture name (sky jacker, pri comp, etc) if not the bracket for the dampers. Post a pic because different companies have different brackets and i can help you that way. Once you post a pic we'll see if you can go back to one damper ( i added a dual skyjacker why i have no idea and i luckily can go back to stock if I ever want too) or have to stick with duals.
Thanks for the offer to help, these pictures may not help if not I will get out there this weekend and clean it up and see if there is any markings. Too cold tonight...
Thats a skyjacker kit i have the same one on my F350. Simply call skyjacker and tell them you have their dual kit and you need new dampers, they might even send them out for free to you just try. I have very good luck with them on warranty issues, my one rear shock the seal went out and i asked for two new ones because u wanted a matching pair and they said ok no problem. .....

Getting back to this project, I picked up two Monroe dampers SC2961, they were the same dimensions except for the eyelet hole monroes are 1/2" skyjackers 5/8". Anyway my question is should I just go back to one damper or do I need to stick with two? truck has stock tires.
If I can just use one does it matter which side I put it on?

How are the monroe dampers designed? Are they to be used together like the skyjackers or can you only use one?
The Bilstein I have is designed to be used singularly. Some stabilizers are designed to be used opposing each other.

Good question... as you can tell this is all new to me. the monroe I picked up at the auto store I told them I had a dual system and they said I need two then. the monroe SC2961 is the stock part number I come up with for a '01 F350 4x4
Problem is you dont have the stock OEM center bracket, could check local junk yards or ebay if not new part from Ford it really shouldn't cost a lot its just a simply plate with five holes in it. Four for the ubolts and the fifth for the stabilizer. But like i said one is all thats needed, two are just for looks only

Thanks, I am going to get one skyjacker damper.
Looking at the way my center bracket is mounted it looks 90° off from pictures I have seen on skyjackers web site and doing a google search. thoughts...
yes the center bracket should be almost level with the ground facing straight out in front of the truck, I wonder why the previous owner did what he did?
