My truck just got stage 1s put in and i can trip my check light when i beat on her. i was wondering if i put in a sd hpop would it stop that light from coming on and would i see more power...if so how much?
see more power- doubtfull unless the trucks power drops off as the check engine light
comes on,
will it stop the light- most likely will with stage one's, other than a long hard pull up a
hill
I've been considering stage II's, I thought the sdhpop17* would handle these or should I go $tealth, mostly daily driver but maybe sled pulling locally??
i am goin to get the sd pump with stage 2's, from what i gather that will power them just fine with a possibility of a cel under high load for extended use, such as 1\4 mile run but shouldn't have a loss of power that stage 2's on a stock pump will
lazerf250, How do you like your Stage 1's? I think that is the way I will go(with a 6.0 intercooler and a Sd HPOP). Im just not sure that the intercooler with fit in there wtih my 6.0 tranny cooler. Still hoping that c00nhunterjoe will give it a try first and passs on the information.
i was about to say your gonna have to wait a while for my input on stage 2's....lol but i suppose the trans cooler will come soon, i still have to get it

I saw about a 20hp increase when I installed the SD pump with my ones...
different dynos, different day, but the sheets said it was there...
also stopped setting the cel at WOT with the SD pump, so I considered it fixed...
I had opprotunity to buy used hpop this weekend but didn't because I couldn't get the bearing plate out to verify it was a17*.any suggestions. It was off a 99 with AB inj.
SD HPOP's help to keep the injects pumpin fuel at high demands where the stock 15* HPOP falls off. Stage 2's and a SD hpop, on fuel should net you around 400+rwhp.

it was most likely a 15*. the early 99's with the AB still ran the 15*pump.
Before I installed the 17* when I set the CEL with the injectors I am using I could feel the engine flatline. It just stopped making power. But after the install the mid range and high end pulled quite a bit stronger. It was well wortht he effort since my pump was free and the fuel pump needed to be changed anyway so i was half way there anyway.

i am in the same boat as a lot of you, i need a a 17* to help feed my stage 1's. if i were to go to ford or IH would i ask for a pump for a 2003 powerstroke? or is there a certain part number to supply them with?
dont shoot the messenger, but this is what I have been told by a few folks...
you cant determine if a pump is 15 or 17 by the humped back cover...
the way I understood it, they are all reman, and whoever does it just grabs a cover and throws it on, flat, humped, whatever...
from what I researched, your guaranteed a 17 pump with this part number
as they are all reman under this PN and a 17...F81Z9A543CRM
also, I was told that some pumps under earlier PN's could be 17, and thats when you have to take the cover off and check....somebody mentioned once you could remove the clip on the cover and shoot some air into one
of the connections and that got the plate off to check the bearing etc...
hope I didnt confuse things...maybe someone can verify what I was told.
RTX is right on. The humped cover doesn't mean anything unless you know for a fact its the factory pump off a late 99 to 03. Pulling the rear cover is the only way to know for sure. I have had good luck with duct tape pulling the cover and air pressure also works. One a junker that I bought to play with for DIY big oil I has to weld a nut to the cover and thread a bolt in there it pry it. nothing else would get it off but that pump sat in the rain a few times too.
