???

Can you explain a little more about identifying a 17. I'm not sure I understood what you said except the you cant tell from the outside. When you get the cover of what do you look for? Is there something different inside? Was the part number you gave the right one for the 17 pump? I just want to make sure I'm clear on what I'm looking for cause I need to get one soon also. Thanks

Sure, call your ford parts guy, tell him you have an '03 7.3 and you need to get an HPOP for it. Then you'll be sure your getting a 17* pump.

Tim knows more about the visual diffrences of the internals then I do. Consult him for the best input.

the 15* pump will have a bearing inside and the 17* will have a bushing in there. Search HPOP in webshots you should be able to find pics of both types. Pretty easy to spot once that cover is off.

Not really if you figure that your buying an oil pump that delivers 23,000+psi lol.

the pump can produce more than 300 psi, but 23000 is way too much, the pcm will dump the ipr at 4000, i will double check my cheat sheet to be sure, but the normal full throttle full load will exceed 3000 easy
