I am thinking of installing the headlights and billet grill from the 2005 - 2007 trucks on my 99. I just like the looks of it, and I understand that the Harey has better lights.
Has anyone done it, and where can I get a kit for the best price?
This is the grille that I am going to go with in the near future. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHROM...em330141941546
I'm still looking for the Harley Davidson lights. I saw them several times somewhere but i haven't found them tonight.
Okay, I have question that may help you. My buddy did this to his car, and ive been seriously debating trying it on my truck since i wanted HD lights, but couldnt find them for the price i found my regular 05 lights. Taking an 05 headlight, you put it in a oven at like 150-175* to make the glue that is holding them together come loose. THen you pry the two apart, take out that chrome piece, and paint that. Use a silicon to put them back together, ive been comtemplating this for awhile, just need the guts to take these headlights and bake them.
mom would get pretty pissy if she came home and found me standing beside the oven with a headlight beside it. "Son, what the F" ...At least in my house.. That sounds like a good idea though if it would work, you could then paint it whatever color to match your truck. When i do go to the 05+ grille, i was debating on the chrome package grille or the regular SD chrome grille. I want the HD headlights because the gray background is damn near the same color as my paint on the truck. If i can pick up the lights for cheap(er than that $629) i may just do the lights and keep my custom IH grille. Think it would look good with my color?

I woudn't try that. That just does not seem like it will last. My patrol car headlights get almost hot enough to burn my hand just touching the front plastic while they are on. Of course that is a crown vic because I spend a lot of time with that. In the end, how did plastic get so damned expensive?

Can't help too much with the conversion, but a quick suggestion is to check out the Super Duty section for this topic. It comes up now and then, and I'd bet you could find a lot of info by doing a search in that section, too.

Ive done this to my car "nissan maxima". I used a heat gun, its like a hairdryer on steriods. Heated up the glue and pulled it apart. Use heat temp spray paint, I did black for my car whick is also black. I did the tail lights too on the car. You can re-heat the glue when you put it back together, just use something to make it even with no gaps. Its looks factory, just take your time and heat up all the glue.
