Well they are definetly bigger then those, plus they're really shinny and purdy behind our trucks open grilles

Nice install by the way

Tim, Banks IC is just a stocker with molded end tanks. Best cooler for our trucks would be a Spearco cooler with a GTS IC kit. IMHO of course.
I will not disagree that Spearco is the a better cooler than Banks or any stock unit but I will argue and prove your statement about banks being a refined stock cooler wrong. also if you can find me more than 5 happy GTS customers I will drop the whole thing!!

here are some hard numbers
Superduty 7.3 IC (pulled my grill and measure just 5 minutes ago) 29x18x2 cu inches 1044

quoted from here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...uestion-5.html

Banks 7.3 29.5"x18"x2.25" 1194 cu in 40.5 sq in 531 sq in

Stock 6.0 26.5"x21"x2.5" 1391 cu in 52.5 sq in 556 sq in

so the 7.3 unit is 150 cu inches smaller than banks and the banks is 197 cu inches smaller than the 6.0 cooler.

So the banks unit while not much larger is larger. Now remember I said I would not buy the banks stuff but since the deed is already done there is no need to remove. Most of us have no need for a spearco IC. including you since you still aren't even running an IC.

The AFE systems still flow to much dirt for my likes. I feel comfortable with my Kwik Filter.

have you ever run the AFE or seen dirt first hand from them? I haven't even seen one in person but I have heard good things about them. While be them pricey and I would buy a tymar given the choice its already on there and a good unit.

I love a good debate!

26"x23"x3.5" spearco
26.5"x21"x2.5" stock 6.0
the spearco 6.0 cooler cant possibly fit, its a full inch thicker then a 6.0 unit, i am already hitting the bumper, so to fit it you would have to lose your ac or your big trans coolers

yep its huge and expensive. it would probably require shimming out of the bumper cutting the center from the header panel and custom mounts for the A/C condenser.

i already cut the ft fascia, made custom mounts for the condensor, i cant remove anymore fascia as all the support is gone now, and the condensor is now flat against the core support, the only thing i could do is move the bumper out but i think it still wouldnt fit without ALOT more work. how much more does it drop your egt's then a stock 6.0 unit? i dont even know how much i dropped from having no cooler

I have no idea how much the spearco drops temps. not many have the need for the funds to run it especially on an OBS.

You dirty bugger Tim. I cant quote out what your wrote.......

Whose to say that I have no use for a Spearco Cooler? If Im gonna do an IC install, why would I mess with a 7.3 cooler when I could go for greed with a Spearco unit? My truck is all show, no go at this point. Yeah it pulls great dyno numbers but it'll spike out my EGT gauge mounted post turbo in a matter of seconds. I want to be able to have continuous power, not temporary.

Two rancher friends have run AFE systems, various stages, and combined have dusted two compressor wheels. There's something about a mesh filter that just dosnt get the job done. Dont get me wrong, its better then a K&N but its right up there in the ranks with them as far as Im concerned.

Before i came to FTE I had run a banks otto mind chip. Originally it was used so I was supposed to get it for half, then when it was all said and done it totalled out to be the equivalent of a new otto mind chip. It ran like *****, it was spendy, etc., That was the last time I ever ran Banks trash on my truck.

Why so bitter towards GTS kits? Many are pleased that I have spoken with over the years. Maybe our intel is diffrent. You know the old saying, my truck my rules, my mods, lol.

I didn't say you had no use for it just that weren't running one yet and haven't heard you talk about one until now. I do believe that you need one and for your power level and future plans the spearco or the hypermax tapercore would be good options.

the rest of the stuff about Banks and AFE I can settle with since I believe both to be the case. I was just curious to your experience with them.

Now to GTS. I have heard no body that has been unhappy with the products. But the service is terrible. back when Geoff was still at TDS lots of people were ordering pipe kits but they would not recieve them for weeks and sometimes months with hardly an e-mail mush less a phone call. It would seem that Geoff builds say 10 kits at a time. once he has say 7 orders filled. then once they are all gone he waits till he has another 7 on order makes the lot then ships. This causes serious lag time in delivery which is no problem if you are upfront about delivery times and can have open communication lines. One thing I also don't like about the product is all the extra hoses he uses in his setup. I think he has 6 hoses total. thats two more connection to leak or blow off at high boost. Other than that the pics I have seen of his y and tubing is very nice. For the same amount of money you can buy the banks tubing kit from Boyer's.

And yes your truck, your money, your rules but you know me... gotta make sure you have all the info so you can make a good decision.

I have heard of some reports of customer service issues but thought all was well. Thanks for the heads up on the Banks tubes. I didnt think banks would sell you the IC kit without the IC, lol. Suprises me that they would do such a smart business move.

Good lookin out brother
