Ignition Switch Wiring +12v

Hey guys,

I'm doing an ignition system upgrade on my 76 Supercab and I'm trying to bypass the resistor wire that comes from the ignition switch to the ignition coil in order to get a full 12v source to a TFI coil. I've been told to look for the pink wire coming from the ignition switch but it looks like there's two of them. Anyone know the wiring schematic for the ignition switch - my goal is to find the wire that draw a 12+ in the "RUN" position.

Thanks

J

A simple 12 volt bypass circuit is easy to run and leaving your existing wiring alone.

AKA: Don't butcher something you don't need to.

I have a pin-out for 78 illustration for a 78 ign switch but I'll try and find the earlier one.

In the black plastic are letters denoting circuit.

ACC is accessory
I1 or I2 for ignition

Thanks - I just figured that splicing out the resistor was the most simple and effective way to get riht amount of current where I wanted it since the wiring is already routed in the harness.

I checked out your gallery, found the ignition pin-out, but I can't make it out too well, it looks a bit blurry to me. Was that the diagram you meant?

See the difference in switches ?
The smaller one is early 78 and older.

The larger one is the mid -78 and newer

The 1977 and earlier switch

This is the 78 switch.

He wanted ignition switch wiring not the column wiring.

Two separate things

I'm having some problems matching up the wire colors from a napa turn signal switch to the wires on the plug under the dash. I have a 1979 ford f150 with a tilt wheel. would you by chance have any info on this year.
thanks

Welcome to the site and this forum.

You should have the legend for the napa wires.

The legend in post #5 should correspond to this

another way to get full 12 volts without cutting the wires is to use a relay. use the resister wire to trigger the relay, and have the switched side supply power directly from the battery.
