PAINLESS WIRING HARNESS IN 55 F350
I've been scratching my head for the last couple of days and as I think I've figured something out I've hooked up the wires; I guess I just need a sounding board. I'm rewiring my 55 F350. I've purchased a replacement ignition switch, a GM one-wire alternator, and the painless wiring harness from LMC. I think I have the coil, starter, starter solenoid, and alternator hooked up right; but I had to jump around in the Painless Instructions between the GM section and the Ford section. Today my head scratching had to do with the ignition switch. My old switch had 3 terminals (GA, Coil, and AM) my replacement switch has 4 terminals (BAT, IGN, ACC, and ST). Of course the color codes are all different. The old switch had a yellow wire going from the AM terminal to the light switch B terminal (which I need to switch out for a 12V one). Painless' color for the old Yellow wire is Red; I'm planning on hooking the Red to the BAT terminal on my new switch. The old switch had a Red/Green wire going from the Coil terminal to the Coil (duh). Painless' color for the old Red/Green is Pink; I'm planning on hooking that one up to IGN terminal on my new switch. The old switch had a Blue/Green wire coming from the GA terminal going to the gauges. Painless' color for the Blue/Green is Brown; I'm planning on hooking that up to the ACC on the new switch. But haven't a clue about the ST terminal on the new switch. Of course I bought the wiring harness with extra circuits and plan on putting door locks etc. on later; so I have enough wire to wire a small city, plan on stowing it in the driver side kick panel.

Thanks Jules, No I'm not using the starter button. I have a new ignition switch, but no instructions.
