Thank You for the well wishes, Gentlemen. You are right, Wayne. I gave up 4 weeks paid vacation. I don't know about where you guys are, but the LTL (less than a truckload) business was/is WAY off, and with all the belt tighteneing, penny pinching, clock watching, percieved back stabbing, etc... at the big Company I was with, i just had enough.
Thanks again, Fellas. I'll still be on here now and then. I 'm going to pick up a laptop and wireless card to mount in the cab. Trucking into the new millineum, ya know..
congrats! now you just have to graft 55 cab onto it. no big deal . . . you can just fiberglass it on. think of how cool it would be! it would be the only one like it. you would have to name it like an F-1000 or something lol
Actually the F-1000 was quite a bit smaller (36000 lbs.). The 1950's Ford version of that truck was the T-950 (51,000).

Jim, I too was fed up with what I call "politics" on my job as an electrician at a major company, In 1980 I left and started my own Electical Service business and have never looked back. I think I probably added ten years to my life span. I hope you are as satisfied.
It takes guts to walk away from a steady weekly paycheck, but once you do, it gets much easier to breathe. I too worked for the other man for many years, I said enuff in May of 93 and have never looked back. I don't think I could work fulltime for anybody again.
I have worked on heavy trucks and equipment for years and am now trying to get a mobile RV service business off the ground. Once it is paying the bills, I will say good-by to the heavy stuff too.
