The Pioneer's aren't 1080p, no doubt about that. The maps and and the way the are displayed (color choices etc.) are simply crisper looking on the Pioneer units.
I'll have to take a look at the new stuff then, because all that I'm running is almost 2 yrs old and it's outdated as far as technology goes(I was already thinking about upgrading the nav. system to the newer one and toying with a radio upgrade to get bluetooth capabilities and various other options that are particular to me).
Im not too technologically advanced, Im more of a TRUCK guy, I got a pc to do what Im doin right now, I got a cell phone I dont hardly EVER use, IPOD? nope dont have one, the MOST techno thing I do is play a few rounds of BF2 once in a while......so excuse this question
what exactly IS bluetooth??
I hear it all the time but dont know EXACTLY what they are talkin about

For sure give the Pioneer units a look, perhaps you'll still prefer the new Kenwood units, however I think that Pioneer, as of today, has the best Nav sytems. Make sure you give the AVIC-Z2 a once over - it's an amazing unit.

Bluetooth is a short-range (ie 10ft or so) wireless connection protocol. It's the technology that allows all those idiots to run around with the little cell phone headsets over one ear and keep their phones in their pocket. In cars it’s used to allow hands free calling via the headunit and a microphone (usually placed on the car A-pillar or visor). In order for Bluetooth to work both the phone AND the headunit need to support the Bluetooth protocol.
Kenwood units use a Garmin navigation add on, that I find much easier to read and use than the Pioneer units although they aren't quite as pretty. The Kenwood unit is also able to be upgraded by SD card for a lot less than new Pioneer DVDs cost and the navigation can be used and routes changed while still playing a DVD or CD unlike the Pioneer units. The Pioneer unit is a little cheaper to begin with.
Cyrexpl has the bluetooth definition covered pretty good but his range isn't entirely accurate. Bluetooth has different classifictions for the range on thier devices. I believe the best is class III that has a range of 100meters. However most cell phones and car stereos stick with the class II stuff I believe which is 10meters.

I agree that the range I used is not accurate as per the Bluetooth standard. The number I used was more a real world observation of actual Bluetooth range.
Well to join in just for fun, Alpine has the best navigation set up but first you spend 1300 to 2000 for the head unit then add 1800 for navigation. Easily the best setup as far options and expandability but by far the worst as far as pricing. If I was to do it again I would go away from the Alpine IVA-d300 and go for the pioneer set up. ALso the Alpine will fit in any din opening as it is a retractable screen set up. So much for 350.
To go along with the Pioneer movement, I have the AVIC-N1 and love it. Bought it brand new about 5 years ago and haven't looked back since, great unit overall and will buy another Pioneer unit when the wife decides she wants a navi unit in her truck.
You haven't mentioned much about the speakers but believe it or not, the factory door speakers with some power through them and a sub sound really good. I'm running a 6 channel amp (pics in gallery) and have about 100 watts going through each door speaker and about 400 going through a JL Audio 10" sub. 4 years like that and they still sound great.
Thanks guys for all the input. I will admit i know my way around the outside of the truck damn well, however one place i haven't ventured is stereo/electronics etc. I'm starting out and learning what i need to know... I've been looking on Crutchfield (is that a good place to buy, they narrowed down my search results for only things compatible with my 02 f-350 CC.) and i've found this receiver. It seems like what i need, i don't want or need navigation, plus that just jacks up the price. I like the screen this has and it has all the features i want..
Hmm... in all honesty I'm not a big Jensen fan (I used to work in a car audio shop) and they aren't the most reliable units. I'd stick with Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood or Clarion.
