Getting ready to change the glowplugs in my 97 PSD. I have never done this before so i was just wondering if there are any precautions that i have to take while doing this. Any tips or tricks would be helpful. thanks.

I changed mine about 8 months ago and I thought it was pretty straight foward. I'm not a mechanic by any means and I was able to do it with no problem.
Right On! jheeter, Never, Never, Never use Autolites. Use Motorcraft ZD11, Look for the word Beru on them. The auto lites will swell the tip, you might not get them out of the block. They can snap off trying to get them out and leave you really pizzed.
Torque them to 14 ft lbs, don;t over tighten. I use antisieze on the threads...overkill, maybe?

I am planning on changing both a GPR and glow plugs. I have bypassed the GPR and the plugs didn't seem to change. The only thing left is to dig into the motor and test the plugs.
You can test the GP's without removing the v-covers. There are 4 connectors on the VC gaskets, 2 on each side. The outer most pins are the GP's. You should get less than 5-6 ohms. A test lite will work too but won't tell you if a GP is weak.
Each connector has 5 pins like this:
GICIG
G= Glow plug
I=Injector
C=Common or Negative for the injectors. Do not test the GP's here. USe a block ground.
