Last year I filled up with diesel in September and did not refuel until April. I just can't see changing the oil for a 300 mile 6 month interval. Opinions are welcome.
FWIW, contaminants don't just come from the combustion process. Condensation inside the motor can affect the oil as well.

I agree but I put 100 miles on my truck between November and April last year and I can't see putting in fresh oil only to let the truck sit for 6 months.

I can buy into the condensation theory but some manufacturers interval recommendation is 1 year as per what I have read. I don't know if this is true or not as I have owned nothing but Fords for the last 27 years and only owned 1 Corvette [other makes] in 34 years of driving.

There are always exceptions to every rule...but they usually depend on circumstances.

I can see extending the OCI on low milage drivers if they are stored in the right conditions/locations.

FWIW, AMSOIL recommends 1 year or 25k for normal service and 1 year or 15k for severe service.

I am speaking of automobile manufacturers not oil company recommendations when I say this.

I go 7500 unless towing, then 5000. For time, every 6 months whether it needs it or not!

Not that I've read the manual lately but where does the 6 months come from??? I put ~7,000 on mine a year and change it about every 12 months. When I was driving more and towing I would change more often but not any more. As for manufacture's recommendations - My BMW recommends annual changes but they run oil for 15K

I change mine every 3 to 5k. Once a month. I work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off and change it every time I go to work. I drive 850 miles one way. My rig runs Rotella oil so the oil doesn't cost me any thing. So I buy a $15 oil filter once a month and change it weather it needs it or not. I know that i'm an exception. I figure if the rotella is good enough to run in these $1,000,000 cats it should be fine in my 6.0.
