On A 2002 F-350 Super Duty The Pyro Meter Keeps Reading Between 650 & 950 , 600 On Level, 950 Pulling Hills. Replaced Guage & Sending Unit. No Change. Normally It Used To Read All The Time Between 200 To 300. Any Suggustions, Need Help.. Thanks For Help In Advance .....
Well first off do you have a stock or modified exhaust, intake, or tuner / chip. also, where is your probe mounted ? Pre or post turbo ? Pre will be in the manifold on the driver's side.
Sounds like you had a bad sender - the 200-300 is WAY cold .. our trucks idle at 300 easy... just driving down the road at minimal accel will hit 500. Flat crusing will get you 650 no problem. And pulling a hill or a load can see 900 up to 1200 depending on exhaust, turbo, performance tunes, etc ..

I agree with these guys. It is now reading what it is supposed to be reading.
Thanks To All You Guys.. It Sounds Like The Pyro Is Reading Correct. One Other. Item I Forgot Is I Hear A Light Tick, tick, tick At The 900 Reading. Any Suggestions On That. It Does Have A After Market Chip (i N There When I Bought Truck) Also Oversized Exhaust. Only Has 19m Miles On Truck. Thanks
what are normal operatiing temps if the sensor is located after the turbo....
That's the problem, there are no set "normal" temps. The reason is that temps after the turbo can be wildly affected by ambient temps, altitude, engine load, etc. There is no linear correlation between pre and post turbo temps. You can hit 1300 degrees on the pre turbo pyro and be over the redline, but post can read anything from 700-1000. Kinda hard to see what redline is on a post turbo gauge.

my truck reads between 300- idle and 900- cranking up a hill on 120 race
i know 1200 is about max for the motor, but i also know it is much less if the sensor is after the turbo
900 is a good rule of thumb for a post turbo pyro...just keep in mind that when the truck is loaded the pre turbo pyro will climb faster and the difference can be far greater than 300* between the two.
Also, 1200 is about the max sustained temp you want to see. You can burst well past that without causing any damage.
