Digital mileage indicator keeps going out

I have a 2001 F150 XLT. The mileage indicator is digital will some times go out, then will turn back on. What is causing this and is it easy to repair?

there is a bad solder joint on the back of teh circuit board behind the speedo

Interesting, this is/was almost exclusively a '99 and '00 problem, wonder if they ever got it fixed up to '03?
