I have an '01 Expedition, and the overhead console digital temp. indicator always gives erroneous readings. The neighboring compass indicator works just fine, and it has been suggested that the 'Temp Sensor' needs replacing. Could someone direct me to its location, and let me know what type of work is involved in swapping it out? I would really appreciate it.
How eroneous? It takes a while from startup for it to register correctly. If its way off like shorted out then replacement is easy. Just unplug it and plug in the new one. It is clipped under the front grille/bumper area..

Homer,
Thanks for the reply, and the photo. You had asked how erroneous the temp's reading could be, and informed that it took a little while of operation in order for this electronic gauge to respond properly. Well, let me put it this way: no matter how long the truck has been driven (we recently journeyed to Georgia, and back) the reading will always be at least 25-35 degrees above what it actually is. It is refreshing to learn how simple it is to replace this piece, and I do appreciate your taking the time to help asyou did.
