I popped a code this morning PO442 emission control evap [small leak]. Would this be a vacuum hose leak? I did both heads about a month ago. Any way to narrow down the troubleshooting on this problem? Any advice appreciated.
did you recently fill up with gas? Sometimes the code is caused because the gas cap is not on tightly otherwise P0442 is refered to as a technicians nightmare, unless you use a smoke machine. There are a several valves involved, the canister and miles of hose.
Good luck!! And post back with any results
That is a small leak. your going to need a smoke machine and a scan tool to close both vents (canister purge and vent valves). Time to take it to a shop!! BTW, with a smoke machine and scan tool, there is no nightmare. It's actually fairly easy. just a matter of connecting the smoke, closing the valves, and finding where the smoke leaks out.....

Dug up an old thread here.....
My nephew's Explorer has thrown this code (P0442). We used AE to perform a running EVAP leakdown test and it passed. I suppose this means we should change the fuel filler cap?
