2008 F150 5.4 Anniversary Edition. I am working to solve a code P0455 code that has been set on the truck. So far I have replaced the evaporative emission return tube, it was beginning to break down giving off a powdery substance. It did not solve the problem. I have replaced the vent valve and waiting for it to complete the cycle! My next step, should it not fix the problem, is to run a smoke test, I found out that my Son has a smoke machine I can use. My question is where do I introduce the smoke into the system? Thanks for your help!
I found the source of the problem without having to use the smoke! After filling the fuel tank up I noticed a fuel leak, I had not noticed a leak previously. Following the leak pattern I could tell it was coming from the fuel pump area and with the use of a mirror could see that the vent line fitting had a hole in it. Looked like a rodent had chewed it! Thanks for the replies.
It wasn't the hose it was the fitting which was chewed, I have seen them chew rubber but not hard plastic except marine grade rubber coated nylon! You would not think they would bother with an every day driver.

That's worse because you have to change an expensive part instead of a low cost piece of hose. If they're going to chew, they should be more considerate in what they chose to chew.

Well it could have been worse, at least I didn't have to drop the tank or remove the bed!
