For those of us that tow heavy with the V10, it was no real surprise that the V10 was chosen as a first choice in the 3/4 ton category.
Remember, they chose the V10 over the diesels in this group.
In the Dually one tons, they chose a diesel.
Quoted below, is the best paragraph from this article. I know all of the regular guys have seen this, but we get a lot of new readers too, and we want to spread the pride and joy of owning a V10. Wrench.
Out of the three-quarter-ton trucks we'd go with the Ford F-250 V10 Triton. It may not be the quickest performer on the flats but if you need a solid, proven powertrain that can pull hard in the hills with diesel-like performance, this is the truck for you.
That is sort of a general statement but ..in general I agree. It says nothing about how much weight you may pull or what kind of terrain you may pull in. I pull all over the country with a F-350 V-10 pulling a near 13K 5th wheel and execpt for long steep grades and at very high altitudes we see little difference between us and the diesels we pull with.
Price, quiet, comfort, maintnenace, reliability, and refuel locations come to mind as decent differences
Hey just being a smart *** based on the "see little difference" from richfaa...BUT I know what he means...I am just amplifying it a tad....my heavy hauling experiances with 7.3L and 6.0L FoMoCo diesels vs all the 2 and 3v V10s I have owned is the same... I doubt I will ever get to compar the 6.4L oil burner because the 6.8L gaser is me weapond of chioce until Ford screws up and drops the best option ever in a truck line of vehicles
What I'm enjoying is maintenace.
Or the lack of it! A $20 oil change and I'm good to go.
This thing has been dead reliable. Just turned over 62K now.
Best move I ever made regarding tow vehicles.

Good Post Rich and say goodbye for me to all my friends on MOC. I have been booted off again as Yoganut so I am done. The cartoon moderators are probably the high post people I argue with about weight specs so keep up your good advice and take care, Wrench.

Absolutely! What would make the SD with V10 even better...is to add a close ratio 6spd Auto tranny...IMO. That is pretty much what keep the chebby in the mix of things.
