I think you will be keen on regearing after you drive it with 33's. What size tire and what gears do you have now?
After using a chart on Ranger-Forums to see what my gear ratio is I have an open 8.8 w/ 4:10s and my tires are 245/75/16. Wouldn't I have to change gear ratios for both axles since it's a 4x4? I upgraded to 4:10's when I had my automatic mustang and really didnt like how much higher it reved along with the amount of money I had to spend to get it done, and the down time I had with getting them installed. Really, if re-gearing is an absolute must, I'll just drop the whole thing and forget it because there's a 99% chance that I won't be messing with the gears.

Ok this is going to take a while. All 33's are not the same height and all 245/75/16's aren't either. The best way to get good info on tire height is to go to the tire manufactures site and get the specs on the tire you have and the tire you plan to go to. You need the size, manufacture, and the model name of the tire.
But ball parking the numbers you posted you have 30" tall tires and 4.10's. Going to a 33" tall tire is a 10% increase. A 10% increase in your 4.10's to adjust for this would put you at 4.51's (4.56's). Unlike your Mustang this will just get you back to where you are now with the taller tires and will keep your rpms, speedo, and driveability very close to what you have now. And yes you will have to change both front and back if you do a gear change.
Now you can get around some of this with a speedo correction but your rpms will be less and most likely you won't be able to use overdrive as much and mpg will go down. Acceleration will be reduced also.

I understand that upgrading gears would help me get back to stock acceleration wise and help with fuel economy. However I don't quite understand what you mean by I won't be able to use overdrive?
My friend that had a bl with 32's or 33's didn't really have any of these problems and I remeber riding in the truck before and after the mods and the acceleration was still fine. I have found other accounts of people with 4:10's w/ 33'sx12.5's and still get fairly decent gas milage with the 3.0.
Ok, let me try and help, Swaping to a 3" taller tire is the same as droping in a set of 3.73 gears. The motor will turn lower RPM's at highway speed so it might not be in the power band of the motor anymore, combined with the increased rolling resistance of the larger tire and fuel miliage will suffer, how much really depends on driving style.
Another thing to consider is the truck will have to work harder to get itself moving, so there is increased wear with the taller tire, again, how much really depends on driving style.
So, consider all this before you decide, you might be fine and happy as a lark without the gears, or you might find after it's done your not happy and decide you need the gears and that is something you can do down the road if you want. Just some options.
I appreciate your guys patience in explaining everything to me.
In all honesty, I have taken the truck "offroad" once and that was through some light mud. I drive the truck pretty much the same as the previous owner (my dad) did, slow and "I get there when I get there" kind of attitude. Plus I know the 3.0 is slow and I really never have the urge to race around stop light to stop light in my/a ranger.
I have a K&N intake, like it matters, and was hoping to get a tuner with a 87 oct. "torque tune" to help deliver more power down low. Hopefully that will help out some, as I'm not to anxious to put an exhaust system on it because most of them, imo, sound like poo. Anyway, I still have some thinking to do.
Well now I have to throw in my 2 cents. I put 33's (305/75r/16) and yes they are pretty close to a foot wide but my mpg dropped quite a bit and this is on a 99 f150 4x4 auto. I have also found that my towing is different can't quite put my finger on it but it is different. Also something you might also consider is brakes (yes throwing another woe into your mod) it takes alot more to stop these tires than it does the stock (or atleast mine does) my truck now eats brakes and not just pads rotors like to warp as well. I am plannind on putting $ drilled and slotted $ on mine w/ the next brake job. But all in all if I had it to do over again I would I am very pleased with the look of my truck and for what it is worth I highly reccommend BFG AT's You can look at my gallery to see what 33's look like on my truck. I say go for it you won't regret it!!!!!
I have 31's on my exploder... I noticed a real performance change when I switched (ok I didn't do it, the elves did) to 4:56 gears... it made a world of difference. 2,400 rpm @ 65. instead of the 3,500 rpm. I may go with 33's since I own a set already.
Ok I'm on a run so I'm going to do "it" again. Baskin Robins made 31 flavors of icecream for a reason. Folks are different. Not everyone likes or dose stuff the same way. We all have our "flavor".
I think 33's and 4.56's would be the way to go. I had 32's on "Mule" and some of the places I go to didn't carry that size in stock when I had problems. No real way to correct for the change in tire size with a gear change if you decide you want to.
My flavor is all your taste my be different.
For the folks scratching there heads at "Wheels Chadly's" post, he had 3.27's and the over drive was gone in a bad tranny. When he went to 4.56's he had the overdrive problem fixed in the tranny so that was part of the RPM difference. The other part is that we used a GPS so he found out how fast he was really going.
