Could you explain what the babies butt, turbo pedestal and intake plenums are? Could I use these off of a 1999.5 - 2003?

yes 99.5 to 03 are the same..
the babies butt is clamped to the back of the turbo..the up pipes bolt up to it with a flange and donuts..sorry no pic of that

the pedestal is what the turbo sits on and oil is fed through it..

in the valley just under the spider pipe you will see 2 boots that feed air to the plenums.

1. So, the plenums on the early 99's are smaller than those on the 99.5-03's?

2. Can you mount a 99.5-03 babies butt to an early 99 turbo?

no you have to change every thing i have listed..the 99.5 has a biger air flow then the early 99..

yes the turbo to..you cant do just part of it..it all has to be done..i did mine with used parts.. but Bob has a kit to do this less the turbo in the link i posted..you wont find any power gains too speek of..but you will see lower EGT's..if your looking for more power up grade the HPOP and injectors to a 99.5 to 03.. i had to do the turbo cause mine started to get a lot of play in the wheel..so i up graded now and do the HPOP later..

if you dont want to swap over to the 99.5 - 03 turbo..at the bottom of this link is a D66 turbo for the early 99..i called and ask about this..i was told with split shots and some tuning i could see 400 hp..wont do much for lowering EGT's..but you are putting in a 6.0 IC any ways..might be worth a shot..
