I think that's the crossover date for the front suspension stuff. You should be in the middle...
Ron is right on the intake piece. That is the definitive answer for the engine. I am not sure what the definitive answer is for the suspension other than measuring the rotor depth.
i apologize i thought i knew the difference but i guess im confused now
i just thought since when i bought my lift my truck was considered an early 99 because of the difference in the trac bar and what not
i know the early 99's have smaller injectors and a smaller turbo so does that mean i have the injectors and turbo that the 99.5's have even though my truck was built in the early months of 99?
heck, i could even be wrong about my truck being built in 99, im having a brain fart and im at work but the first thing i will do when i get off is double check that sticker in the door to make sure i have not completely lost it and my truck was built in 98 after all
lol gets confusing huh??? when doing brakes it took 3 trips to napa with 3 different rotors just to get the one I needed..lol..by looking at the spider pipe I posted is the best way besides the door sticker to see if your truck an early or late 99..
I went to the later style so I can easily find parts if I break down on vacation or somewhere far from home.
thats the only down fall i find with the early 99..Ford tryed so many things before they found out what the wanted..trying to find parts for this truck is a pain..i have started a parts list with part # and brands..
nhill---welcome to the early 99 club.. but its still a good ole PSD no matter how you look at it..
Hehe, Im an early 99 traitor, the only thing left to swap is injectors, and PCM, but the PCM is fine, so after the injectors, ill just be the mutt 99, some early parts(PCM), some late, and some that are not supposted to be on PSDs from the factory!
first couple months of 99 would make your truck a 99.5..look at the spider pipe below..notice on the spider to the right.. the tube sticking out to the right is where the driver side IC pipe runs to..on the early 99 the tube gets a smaller like a funnel going into the spider..on the late 99 painted orange here... (99.5) that tube stays a full 3 inches going into the center of the spider..also the 2 tubes at the bottom that go into the intake plenums are a full 3 inches on the 99.5 and the early 99 they where 2 inches.
Ron,
I am looking at updating my IC system by upgrading to a 6.0 IC and a 99.5-2003 spyder pipe like you show above. Is there anything else that I need to do to make my early 99 IC system work better? (without throughing a lot of money at it) Can I reuse my existing IC pipes? Would you recommend upgrading the IC boots and pipes? Any info would be appreciated.
