460 swap

I have an 77 4x4 shortbox with a 460 in it!! My question is will the tall motorsport valve covers fit on the motor in the what would be stock location?? I have L&L mounts that have not yet been installed either!!! Will these help?? From what I measure from the heads to the Brake booster, and or AC box they will not?? I know someone has had this trouble!!! Thanks Monte in SATX!!!

I've seen people with a very similar set up, and I've seen the clearence between the brake booster and a/c box. The a/c box isn't the trouble, but the booster; there is about enough room to fit the skinny side of a coin inbetween it and the valve covers.

On the 73-79 forum the first 3 pages are considered active because there are so many off topic posts.

This thread should help you so I don't have type everything again.

I did a 460 swap in a 75 f-100 4x4 that had a 390 previously. I used L&L mounts and headers. I had the SVO motor sports tall aluminum valve covers and they cleared the A.C. box by about 3/4 of an inch and the brake booster by about 2 to 3 inches. It was close but nothing contacted anything else.
