How long has it been running? That injector fired a whole bunch of times with the exhaust valve closed.....maybe it just loaded up and needs time to clear.
I took it for about a 5 mile ride it got warmed up good . I talked to Scott on the phone he thinks that when the exhaust valve was closed on the exhaust stroke that the o-ring on the injector could have got trashed . I have no smoke out of the dipstick or ccv hose very little out of oil cap. I will pull it apart in the morning and unplug the injector and see if it stops smoking.
The other thing to do is make sure the valve stem height is the same on the one that broke the rocker. The valves sit flat to the piston, so if they do bump each other it is less likely that some cars they will get bent.
I'll second the oring issue. Lots of heat, no where to go. Maybe check the intake valve seal too.
I don't know how I didn't see the bent pushrod on the intake valve on the same piston or the broken rocker arm . So I am done till I get parts on Tues AM since I was in there I went ahead and pulled that injector and put new o-rings on it.

In the meantime you could try a pseudo compression test. Unplug the CPS and crank the starter. If you have a bent valve, you will hear the starter unload on that cylinder due to no compression.
It's gonna' sound a little different anyway, with no valves opening, but Kwik's suggestion may tell you if you need to dig deeper or not.
Since you're in there anyway, why not pull a glow plug and crank it around a few times. You should be able to get an idea of whether your still going to have compression or not.
Did pull the glowplug but I had one of my batteries in the 86 150 I'm using as a driver at the moment. I'm going to get a new battery for the 86 today but I probably won't touch it till tomorrow I need to get all of that oil out of the cylinder from pulling that injector so I will know real quick if I have any compression thanks for the advice.
Is it possible to over-extend a lifter? Seeing that there was no force holding it back in with no rocker or proper length push rod, could the lifter over-extend past a limit or is that not a problem?
I don't see it as a problem it just rides in a bore going up and down on the camshaft lobe there is no pressure on it to knock it out of the bore. I mean it might jump out if you redline it but I doubt it.

What about bouncing up and down on the cam? Any possibility of lobe damage? Sorry, don't want to bing foul weather your way.
