Thank you Broken. I still fall in the 'poor college student' category of truck people. Kinda inconvenient. I should have a fiberglass repair kit in at the parts store here sometime today. I am going to try that and go talk to the decent salvage yard guys to see if I can snag a certain set of panels.
Also, would you think it to be sacrelig to put 'ranger xlt' trim on an F-150 Custom?
The problem with most junk yard door panels is the plastic is either rotten from the heat and cold and crack and break easily or someone broke them trying to get them off.
I agree with you on that Mil1ion, i just looked and looked and looked then found some that were half decent and fixed them up with the fiberglass kit....but like you said you can't really fix the rot huh.
If you dont mind looks all that much, you can usually get one in decent shape from junkyards, but usually the back mounting tabs are broken. Just take some self tapping screws/washers and screw them to your door. Then just try to paint the screws/washers the same color to match the panel or come close. Pretty easy and cheap way to go.
Well, my issue is getting door panels with the tabs intact that look good. I am going for form as much as function. This is my 'show' truck, not a beater. Although, it is fun to go muddin' with.
