Did you get them coated or anything? Did you use the bolts that came with them or get aftermarket bolts? If you got aftermarket, which ones did you use? I have to get some headers or something before I get back to Denver. Got a wicked exhaust leak and am missing a few studs.
Cheers,
Shawn
I did not use the stock studs, and glad I didn't even bother buying them, they wouldn't have worked with the headers anyway.
I used grade 8 plain steel bolts, with anti-sieze. I put the header on the head, measured the depth of the hole, added a nice thick washer, subtracted a 1/4 inch, and went from there.
Oh, and I didn't coat them. They are plain stainless... they are discolored now, but not too bad, they're still shiny... And I really don't care how they look
Krewat, was there any type of modification necessary to either the headers or other components? Or was it truly a bolt-on (minus the studs, of course)? I don't NEED headers for my truck, but if the price is right then why not
Being a car guy, I know that many times a bolt-on part doesn't. Since my truck is my daily driver (and currently the only vehicle I own that runs) I can't have it down. How long did the job take, and what pointers would you give to someone undertaking this endeavor?
I also bought the same headers on ebay...at the same time i bought the new y pipe on ebay for like $90.00 or so...the truck has more power, but i wouldnt pay for the high labor rate ($465) plus headers and y pipe ever again..i recommend getting the hypertech power programmer over headers
A few people had asked about headers in the past few weeks, so I figured I'd post up what I had done.
Hi Art,
Do you know of any aftermarket companies who offer long tube header for the FORD V10. I guess i'm into the long tube header like the one's on my cougar. But, i am pretty sure FORD did not leave enough space for Long Tube Headers.
