Which engine is easier to modify?

Nobody replied to my other message, so here is a new one: Is it easier (are there more mods available) to modify a 4.6 or 5.4? And why does the mustang 4.6 have much more base h.p. than the truck? Different exhaust, I know, but what about intake and heads, etc?

Basically they're about the same to modify in a pickup, but the 4.6L has been out longer, in crown vic's and lincolns. The 2000 4.6L in the truck has 220hp and the mustang has 260. As far as direct differences. I can tell you the heads and intake are difference. But I don't know the direct details.
