OK, tore up the engine to replace the passenger exhaust manifold and gasket a found a burnt valve, well 2 to be exact on the pass side. I broke off 2 bolts anyway so I am going to replace the head and go a heads up gasket replacement and replace all the rubber vacuum lines while I am here.

That did it. It was a couple burnt valves- go figure ! Runs like a champ.

man, glad you got it fixed, what a B......do you think leaking exaust caused burnt valves?.

I doubt it, it started leaking after the stalling. I did a ton of heavy towing - 7700lbs exceeding the limit by a bit. I am sure that is what did it. I had a super-chip with a tow program and I ran premium fuel - that too could have lead to the burnt valves. I have since removed the chip as I do not tow any more - the 03' Expedition does that.
