I have been having trouble getting my truck out of park lately (04 F150 Screw). Anyone else experienced this and have a solution? have stood on the brake, pumped it, restarted, rocked the truck, and everything else I could think of and it wouldn't release out of Park. It finally released but I thought I was going to be walking! It's not the first time and seems to be getting worse! Anybody have an idea?
Will the shifter move out of park or is the shifter stuck in park? If its stuck then
check the button that unlocks the shifter. I had it break on my old bronco II.

It has something to do with the safety release button. It won't release so you can take it out of park. Once it releases, everything shifts fine. I am guessing it has something to do with the brake not signaling and allowing the button to release the shifter.
your problem is your shift interlock solinoid . it is located next to the console shifter on the drivers side. it has a white button attached to it. i have the same problem right now. i think ford told me the part is 200 bucks so i just wedged a screwdriver bit on in the solinoid to hold the button down and i havent had a problem with it.
The simplest thing to check when this happens is your brake light switch. Make sure the brake lights are coming on when you push the pedal. I had this happen on a '97 F150 and the brake light switch wire had broken and was making a connection only part of the time. Ford's design has the brake light switch mounted to the pedal which moves and causes the wire to fatigue over time. This design allows a very slight touch of the pedal to kick off the cruse control which is nice but has the disadvantage of moving the switch.
Just had the interlock replaced on my 04. Per the warranty receipt, they replaced the shifter. I ended up removing the console cover (see your owners manual, you just need a screwdriver) and randomly needed to push the button to get it out of park. If yours is like mine was, depressing the brake pedal different amounts made a difference. If you have the cover off you can watch the button move or not. You could just tape the button down, but it is a safety issue.
I gave the wires around the brake pedal a wiggle and cleaned some dust out of the connections and cleaned the inside of the center consol. That seemed to help. Might be some dust hindering the connection and relay. Hopefully if I give it a good clean it will maybe reduce the frequency of the problem.
