Well I did it. For $2515 I have a complete Sidewinder system. I found that adjustability of the wastegate was the deciding factor for me. I'm going to be researching more towards the alky/water injection. From what I've seen so far the intercooler or injection system give the same result in effects and performance. To many the biggest difference in kit form would be the price.
Cooler $1400, Alky kit $3-400. Either system could be home built with parts and research and time. I'll work on getting the turbo on before I decide.

Thanks for all your comments and info.

I have a snow plow bracket that has a solid 1/2" thick steel plate that runs from the frame horn to the other frame horn and is about 16" tall.
It runs from the top of the bumper down to about 10" below the bumper.

The intercooler would not be able to get any air to it as long as the bracket is on the truck.

So I have not bothered installing one.

My only other option is to remove the AC condensor and locate the intercooler up higher.
I don't really like AC, so that might be the way I go if I decied to install one.

Our water alcohol/methanol kits have a few advantages over an intercooler:

1) You will not have a reduction in boost as you will see with some intercoolers.
2) They are definitely a cheaper starting point.
3) Our kit only takes about an hour to install.

With that being said we do not discount the ability of an intercooler to do the job it was intended to do. In the ideal circumstance you would want to use both an intercooler and a water meth system.

While this may sound biased if you think about it, it will make good sense. Most of our customers have a budget in mind to accomplish their goals (i.e.- as inexpensive as possible). Water injection is a good place to start when you're trying to cool EGTs and Air Charge because it can be less than half the cost of an intercooler. A lot of people just do not have the budget to purchase the intercooler set up right away. Also, it is easier to find an hour of your day to install the system versus the many hours it could take to install an intercooler. The fact is also, that a water injection kit may provide all the benefits you need for your application... again for possibly 50% less than an intercooler.

We are not slamming intercoolers... they definitely work... and they work even better with water injection. I'm just saying that based on they guys I normally talk with, water injection is usually the best place to start and in a lot of circumstances it does the entire job they needed. If needed, you can always add the intercooler at a later date.

Also, we have taken a lot of time to design a system that is very clean and simple to install. It's not a kit which is something you have to put together... it is a system, meaning it comes fully assembled and ready to install.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend!!

AIS, I have a water/methanol system thats works on both boost & EGT's

I still belive an intercooler is the best option but with very littlle room up front of my 84 F250, I could not fit it in [dodge intercooler] WITHOUT totaly butchering the rad support.

The only reason I bought a w/m kit is for the EGT's....that being said, I havn't done any towing yet BUT the one thing I recommend is a GOOD size tank! The one I got with my kit was a joke, empties very quickly!

Daily driving has been a blast, the combination of the w/m kit & propane has been great!

Yea, we totally agree... most of our competitors offer a 2 quart tank. We can set anybody up with a 2 quart tank, if they wanted it, but most of our systems come STANDARD with a 1.5 gallon tank.

For the Diesel guys, that do a lot of towing and such, we offer a 6 gallon tank upgrade. Which by the way, if you need it I can set you up with just the tank. It will work with your current system. If you don't need the 6 gallon capacity I could set you up with one of our 1.5 gallon tanks. The 1.5 gallon tank lasts most of our gas cars about a month. I'd imgaine 1.5 gallons will last you at least two weeks unless you're doing some serious towing.

Give me some info on this propane injection I've been reading about. Is it as risky as some people make it out to be???

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Nathan, propane injection is not dangerous if you follow the manufactors instructions....the guys who blow their heads are turning up the fuel beyond recommended specs.....it doesn't take that much longer to install a propane kit than it would the w/m kit.

I ran the propane injection kit on my old 6.9 IDI with out a turbo....I wouldn't recommend it.
