is it my ip again?running along at a low speed it wants to take off like you steped on it,than some times it bucks at a low speed.starts good cold or hot .it uses very little oil a litre every 1000 milesthough it may be sucking it in around the valves, but it is not using enough, any other ideas?
I have seen throttle cables have a similar symptom. I can't say that I ever seen it on one of these trucks but I have on other things.
What happens the cable will bind up in the sheath. You have to push a little farther to get a fuel response then as you are moving along the cable will get "happy" and relax, I guess you could say, and it will rev up.
Also make sure you aren't getting air in the fuel. I have seen air do some strange things and it would have been one of the last things you would think of. I have seen air not let an engine wind down several times. That wasn't uncommon on a old Cummins PT fuel system but I have seen it on this type of system also.
I have also seen people put after market lift pumps on these motors and the Chevy 6.5's that were to strong. You can have to much housing pressure on one of these Inj. Pumps. That can really make them do stupid things.
thanks catish! my cable could be at fault, never really looked at that ,have put a new lift pump on about 2 years ago, should check the pressure, cometo think it does act like a sticky cable
