so baisically if i retorque the injector bolts and it brings the smoke down a bit i would then need to get all the o rings changed out to make sure its stops all smoke ... in doing so will i have to do all that is needed in changing the injectors such as draining the oil and diesel and turning the engine with a breaker?
Where abouts in Florida? The dealer here in Orlando stays open until 10pm. If your close and need parts you can get them there. Finally a dealer that has hours for the night owls to fix things.
Winter haven but if u havent heard of winter haven then Lakeland is the nearest city to me so orlando isnt that bad ... ive gone farther before like St pete, but im just wondering what all i will need
..since the dealer isnt open do u figure i should get valve cover gaskets? mine are not leaking now but i dunno if its required when removing the valve covers ... i should in now way remove the injectors just tighten um right?
The V/C gaskets should be reusable unless you get unlucky. (they can be pricey, be careful with them) As for removing the injectors, you will get into a more extensive procedure if you do. If you find all the injector bolts tight, that may be something to explore. As for now, minus the torque wrench, you have nothing to buy and just time to spend.
well if i find that they are not lose then yeah i will leave the valve covers off and see if cant get a freind of mine to help out ... i had him change two of my injectors back about 3 years ago when he was still in school (diesel mechanic school) so he should still remember some things as for the orings and seals you guys have a clue as to what the part numbers are just in case or a place with cheaper price then the dealer?
I know where Winter Haven is. Its down there by Cypress Gardens and all that stuff. Used to race remote control cars in Lake Alfred. There should be some late night dealers maybe like Jarrett or the other one down that way. But like Tenn said above you just need to spend some time and not money on it right now. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Hmmm. I have a few things to look into, maybe check back for an edit as I will not post new. While you wait, have you run the truck with the oil fill cap off and observed whether there is a steady stream of vapor/smoke or does it puff like a steam locomotive? I have not really checked on any of your mods or truck info. What is the year/mileage and is there a CCV mod? A clogged doghouse will make the oil fill cap visual check look different let alone the effect on the engine.
EDIT: I cannot find the link on smoke diagnosis. If/when I do it will be posted anew.

well it goes like this the truck is an early 99 and as for the miles umm it broke a long long long time ago it stayed somewere around 175k and since it didnt effect me none i didnt bother getting it fixed i thought koo but now the thing is i really dont know how many miles it gots but back to the point i did do the CCV mod almost when i joined ...and when i turn the truck on and take the cap off it seems like there is some pressure under it kinda like a steady stream ... no puff puff or none that i can see
totin tools that is exatly were im at... but the biggest dealer here is bartow ford -alot larger then jarett and they generally close around 5:30pm so no late nighters here ...
Did the smoking change at all after the turbo rebuild? Anyone else wonder about the sound on that clip? No doubt the turbo had an oil leak, but was there any change? I don't know what happened to my comprehensive smoke diagnosis link but I cannot find it, What I was also alluding to was the possibility of a faulty injector install.
All of this assumes a good fuel/oil filter, fresh oil, good fuel pressure, and good fuel. That odo is also a good diagnostic tool for fuel consumption since poor fuel economy will tell you when something is headed south.
well when it orginally started acting up i would say it had a good amount but really only when u would roll to a stop it would start building up but now as u guys can see there it kinda sticks with the truck ... as for the fuel filter i just changed that today ... as for the fuel it self well i dont honestly think that could be it i usely fill up in the same places i have for a long time and well im not saying its the cure for water in the fuel but i always ad the diesel kleen (grey bottle). oil filter and oil is not to old i would say month and half but not that many miles on the recent change... and the injectors well those were changed i would say about 3years back maybe a lil longer ...and finally for fuel economy i havent had a chance to actual run it any real good distance just from my house to town because like i had said as soon as i noticed it i basically stopped running the truck in fear of damaging something important...
