when will I learn

that i shouldn't use the impact on small bolts.

So I broke both bolts that hold that brake calipers on, first the passenger side with the impact, then the driver's side with a wrench. I managed to get the passenger side bolt out with an extractor set, so that side is good, but I can't get the driver's side out. Will the clip be enough to hold the brake caliper on or should I swap in a new bracket?

Dubz has a spare d44 laying around, so I'll be able to get a new bracket if I need it, but just wanted to make sure before I did all that work.

The more I type the dumber this question is sounding, I think I'm going to be told to get the new bracket, am I right?

You are correct. Replace the bracket and be safe.

hey! I did the same thing to my dads old 79 F-150 2 wheel drive. It was really loud in the garage, I wasn't thinking straight and then the bolt head just fell off.

lol

I did the same thing with a wrench on my old truck. I just left the clip on it and never had a prblam wiht it. But if you can, go ahead and swap in a new bracket.

I was thinking like monsterbaby. The worst that will happen is that you waste some time if you don't like it once you're done

Another option is just drilling it all the way through and putting a longer bolt in with a lock nut on the backside. It isn't as convenient when taking it off / putting back on, but works fine...

Yeah, I figure I'll just drill right through and try to fit a nut on the back, then if it doesn't fit I'll tap it. Then if after all that its not working I'll go scrounge the parts from my buddy.

I was just tired last night and didn't feel like doing any more work, lol.

like I said just drill it and tap it to next bigger bolt size and don't mess with the nut on the back side this works real well have done it on several including the race truck and never had one give me any problems.
