the girl across the street has a 02 altima. the thing had almost no brakes.
new pads and rotors on front, and new everything on the back.
i managed to get the passenger side done without any major difficulty. the driver side rear is fighting me all the way.
caliper seized, caliper sliders seized, and caliper mounting bracket bolts oxidized into the aluminum axle assemblies.
anyone have any ideas on how to get the bracket bolts loose without removing the rear suspension??
i don't have enough room in there it get the impact gun on the bolt heads to break them loose.
i also can't get a good grip on the bolt heads with a breaker bar.
i would if i could, but there is no way to get the 24 inch breaker bar or the impact gun in there.
the bolts are oxidized in the aluminum rear suspension casting.
i think i am going to have to drop the rear suspension section out of the car to get the impact gun on the bolts.
Have you soaked them with something to help cut the corrosion? PB Blaster or WD40, etc. Might take overnight or even longer to loosen up. That dissimilar metal sh-tuff is nasty. Good luck.
no torch. it is an aluminum control arm assembly and the bolts are rite against the bearings.
and cant get penetrating oil in there because it is a blind hole. no where to get the oil to the threads of the bolt. and the bolt head is flush tight against the aluminum housing.
i am going to try something new called CRC freeze off.
supposedly you spray the head of the bolt and it will shrink the bolt by freezing it to something like -20F letting it come out.
if it ever stops raining.
i got a feeling this is going to have to wait till next weekend.
