Hopefully someone out there has already done this. I want to eliminate the vent windows. I will use polycarbonate to replace the glass, but would like to find window moldings, anti rattle mechanism and tracks from an existing application. Anyone know if any of the later model truck stuf will work?
The reason I want to eliminate the vents is this truck is a resto rod style. I would like to lighten the truck as much as possible. The doors are fiberglass, as are front and rear fenders (Step-sdie). The truck has been dropped 3-4"s.
Why? How about just cus I was told it couldn't be done.
Wasn't that picture doctored? There was another thread recently talking about the same thing. Here's a link to a company that makes conversions but I don't think they have ours yet.
Their web site say the kits are coming for the F series. I would sure consider it. I put all new rubber in mine and it lasted for about a year and then the wind noise came back. I finally gave up and got a tube of black silicone and filled all the cracks around those vents. It quiet now. Hopefully nobody will try to open them.
yeah i wish the newer trucks had them. It would be nice if they could make some that looked like the old ones but would roll up and down or twist in electronically with a more modern gasket.
