1990 F250 XLT with intermittent passenger side power window that won't go back up when fully open. The motor always gets power when I operate the switch. This only happens when the window is down. There is an adjustment screw on the top of the motor, and when I loosen it a bit, the window seems to work. I'd like a little more info on this adjustment screw though, since the Haynes manual does not describe it at all. I don't think the motor or circuit is faulty, it seems like the thing is binding when at the extreme open position. Anybody out there been over this one?
Steve, What appears to be adjustment screw really doesnt have much adjustment. The top of the motor shaft rides in the base of the slotted threaded part of it. If you loosened the nut and turned the screw in more it would put more pressure on the top of the motor shaft, loosen it and you get the opposite. It seems to be an over engineered way of keeping the motor centered within the magnets. Yours sounds like the nylon gears need replacing. OK. I see what you mean. Well then the answer for now seems to be being careful to not open the window all the way. The truck is only an occaisional camper rig.
